Schools offering dance programs are few and far between making a recent recognition of a Uintah School District teacher especially exciting. The Utah Dance Education Organization has named dance teacher Alisa Cook the Educator of Excellence for the month of October. The Utah Dance Education Organization aims to build the dance community in Utah with a focus on educating all ages and the whole person. Alisa Cook is currently the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts dance teacher at Ashley and Davis elementary schools. The person who nominated her for this award noted that Cook is the only dance teacher currently in the Uintah School District. The nominee stated that Alisa “created her own curriculum and has provided meaningful performances for students and the community” and that “these performances were highly attended and added positively to school investment and climate.” Congratulations Alisa Cook on the well deserved award.
