Local Service Providers Give The Gift Of Family Dinner And Fun At Fall Carnival

Local service providers, including DCFS and Northeastern Counseling, provided the food and fun last night for families at the 5th annual Fall Carnival at the Colton Pavilion. Booths, blasting karaoke, a fire engine, and plenty of food trucks filled the parking lot, grass, and pavilion. Everyone in attendance was given a $5 token to be used at the food trucks which was a big hit! DCFS is actually the agency that started the fall carnival as a way to let people know they are here to support and strengthen families. Northeastern Counseling has been an enthusiastic participant as they look for ways to help build up families. “The reason why we do this event is to let families know the importance of having dinner at least 5 times a week with your kids to help prevent underage drinking and other problem behaviors in adolescence,” shares Catherine Jurado with Northeastern Counseling. “It’s a good way to bond with your kids and get to know them and what’s going on in their lives, to help them make healthy choices that will benefit them the rest of their lives.” Thursday’s event was a fantastic success!
