Multiple local schools celebrated Red Ribbon Week this past week with many fun
activities and dress up days. Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s largest and longest running
drug-use prevention campaign.
One of the highlights locally was when Naples Elementary gathered the students and staff to form a large letter “N”. They then selected a picture that was taken of the human letter to submit to the 2022 National Red Ribbon Week Photo Contest.
As part of their Red Ribbon Week activities, Ashley Elementary really enjoyed having the school resource officer, Uintah County Sheriff’s deputy Amy Leishman and her K9 partner Riddick, show students how Riddick finds drugs during a search. In fact, the school’s behavior interventionist Jodie Mapp bravely volunteered to put on a bite sleeve so Riddick could demonstrate his apprehension skills.
We thank all those that helped put together activities, volunteered or otherwise helped take part of this week focused on teaching drug prevention.
