Move over Charlie Brown! Take a seat Jack Skeleton! There’s a new great pumpkin in town and it’s busy setting records. Local growers Ralph and Juana Laub loaded up their great pumpkin last month and journeyed to Logan for the Center Street Giant Pumpkin Festival. The Laubs gigantic gourd not only won, it set a new Utah State Record, weighing in at 2,289 pounds. When Ralph and Juana Laub became empty nesters, the pair decided they needed a hobby and growing giant produce was a natural fit. The lifelong gardeners decided to put their massive gardening space to good use once there were less mouths to feed. Their passion for the hobby has paid off as they have won many growing contests over the years and not just for pumpkins. They are also known to grow monster tomatoes, winning watermelons, and more. Congratulations to Ralph and Juana Laub on representing the Basin so well!
