Local Firefighters Travel To Kansas

by | Mar 18, 2025 | News | 0 comments

High winds and exceptionally dry vegetation have created an emergency situation in Kansas as extreme fire danger is affecting every county in the state, resulting in Utah firefighters responding to a call for help. In response to the high fire danger, Kansas Forest Service coordinated with the Great Plains Interstate Fire Compact to bring in reinforcements from out of state with Wyoming and Utah having deployed resources, which are now strategically positioned across Kansas. Among the Uintah County firefighters that have responded to the call is Jensen Fire’s Deputy Chief Corey Auger, who is also the Fire Warden for Uintah and Daggett County. Auger was among those interviewed by KSN News out of Wichita, sharing that this “allows us to come out here and help our neighboring states with severe wildfires. You know, when one state needs it, we’re glad to help out.”
