Local Bus Drivers Report Increase in Vehicles Running School Bus Red Lights

by | Mar 19, 2021 | News | 0 comments

Our local school districts make safety of students a top priority and have an urgent message for all motorists to obey state law when approaching a stopped school bus with flashing red lights. “Our bus drivers have seen an increase in vehicles running school bus red lights,” shares Uintah School District. “This isn’t just dangerous, it’s illegal! According to state law, if a school bus is displaying alternating flashing red light signals, visible from the front or the rear, other drivers are REQUIRED to stop before reaching the bus. Do not proceed until the flashing red lights stop.” Also please note that school bus drivers can report drivers who improperly pass school buses and this report can be forwarded to law enforcement with fines ranging from $100 dollars to $500 dollars. A conviction will also mean an increase in insurance rates.
