Local law enforcement agencies participated in a major seat belt enforcement launch on Monday as Utah joined with six neighboring states for the “Border to Border” Operation as part of the Click It or Ticket campaign. Officers from Vernal City Police Department, Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, and local Utah Highway Patrol met officers from Wyoming agencies at the Utah-Wyoming border as part of this region’s launch of the initiative. Additionally, law enforcement agencies from Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Arizona also met at borders to send a zero tolerance message to the public that driving or riding unbuckled will result in a ticket, no matter what state.

, 61 law enforcement agencies throughout Utah will work over 615 overtime shifts to stop and educate motorists who aren’t wearing a seat belt. The timing lines up with the start of the 100 deadliest travel days of the year, which was no coincidence. “The Utah Highway Patrol in the Uintah Basin are excited to support and participate in the Border to Border campaign,” shares UHP Sgt. Kellie Oaks. “Wearing a seat belt is the number one thing motorists can do to prevent death and injury while operating a motor vehicle.
