The local 116th Engineering Company of the Utah National Guard rendered service while gaining valuable training this summer in Hawaii. The company’s assistance was requested by the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum through the military’s Innovative Readiness Training Program which matches project requests with military personnel that need the hours as training to build their skills. The 116th Engineering Company’s project focused on a major renovation to the museum’s Hanger 79. They performed demolition, electrical, and renovation work, including a bathroom, multiple staircases, walkways, and more. Staff Sergeant Patrick Costello says they plan to utilize this program for more training in the future.
