Like any good newcomer to town, “Lanny” the Triceratops is checking out local businesses in Naples City and is enjoying the visitors stopping to get a picture with him. Naples City Mayor Dean Baker says “Lanny” is just a nickname for now but talk of having a contest to name the new Naples dinosaur was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Regardless, the life size dinosaur has arrived and is ready to enjoy life in Naples City. His permanent home will be at the Naples City roadside park next to the Naples City Offices “where tourists coming into the Valley from the east can stop to take pictures and view him to help promote tourism,” shares Mayor Baker. For this week, however, “Lanny” is checking out Naples City businesses. He spent Tuesday at Naples Country Cafe, Wednesday at IFA, is hanging out at Subway in Naples today, and will be at Napa Auto Parts on Friday! “We had him built over the last year,” shares Mayor Baker. “ [He was] shipped to the City around the first of December in pieces and now [we] have him all put together. Our new dinosaur should be a good addition to the area!” The City plans to place him at the roadside park next week where he will enjoy many photo sessions for years to come.
