Recent snowmobile accidents have had devastating consequences this month in the Strawberry Reservoir area. Within a matter of a few weeks, there were multiple snowmobile related injuries and 2 deaths. So what can be done to improve safety and prevent catastrophe? All are asked to take to heart the following snowmobile safety tips: Know the daily avalanche forecast by visiting utahavalanchecenter.org; Know the weather conditions and dress accordingly; Know your capabilities your sled’s capabilities, and capabilities of your fellow riders; Know that at least one other person knows where you and your fellow riders are headed, and actually go there; Know how to use your avalanche safety gear: a beacon, probe, and a shovel; Know that you have enough fuel, a basic lightweight tool kit, and first aid kit; And know you’re wearing the necessary safety gear, including a helmet, googles, waterproof gloves, and a proper snowmobile suit. Make safety a top priority and ride responsibly!
