This Saturday is Free Fishing Day. Everyone is invited to get out there and try their hands at fishing at any body of water in Utah. No one needs to have a fishing license as this event was designed to help introduce kids and beginners at a minimal cost to fishing. “You don’t need a license to fish that day, (so) it’s the perfect time to take someone fishing with you and introduce them to the sport,” shares Randy Oplinger, sport fisheries coordinator for DWR. Utah Division of Wildlife and the Forest Service staff from Ashley National Forest are holding a Kids Fishing Derby in conjunction with Free Fishing Day at Moose Pond and Lower Stillwater Pond. There will be educational mini-clinics and possibly a visit from Smokey Bear at the events. Both will
start at 9am
and run
until 12pm
.
