Another seat on the Uintah Transportation Special Service District board has been filled. On Monday, the Uintah County Commission approved Senator Kevin Van Tassell to the board to replace Chairman Duane Shepherd who was selected last month to replace Mike McKee on the Uintah County Commission. Van Tassell will finish out Shepherd’s term through December 31st, 2018. Senator Van Tassell is well qualified, having previously served on the Utah State Transportation Board. Currently Van Tassell serves as the Vice Chair for the Senate Appropriations Committee that handles the Utah state budget. Commissioner Bill Stinger emphasized that when serving on the UTSSD board, Van Tassell is serving as a Uintah County resident and there is no conflict. Commissioner Shepherd explained that while Senator Van Tassell cannot move money into Uintah County, he is a prominent figure that will be able to help Uintah County at least get projects.
