One juvenile is in custody and one is dead after a report of a “family fight” in Northwest Duchesne County on Sunday. According to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, on September 22nd, deputies were dispatched to a report of an incident that involved the discharge of a firearm. “Upon arriving at the scene, deputies located 1 male juvenile outside the residence, and another male juvenile was located deceased inside the residence from a gunshot wound to his upper body,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “There were no other family members inside the home at the time of the incident. Detectives with the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and began an investigation into the sequence of events that led to the juvenile’s death. One male juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office for questioning, before being transported to the Split Mountain Youth Detention Center in Vernal. Due to the sensitive nature of the incident, and out of respect for the family, the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing the names of the suspect or the deceased at this time.” The case is being investigated as a homicide.
