Congressman John Curtis has announced that he has entered the race for Utah’s U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Mitt Romney. With a high approval rating, Congressman John Curtis’s reelection to Utah’s District 3 race was highly likely so why change races? Curtis gave an interview with Evans Family Media this week explaining that his decision is motivated at least in part by the frustration he feels knowing that so much policy, including energy policy, is established in the Senate before making it to the House. If elected Senator, Curtis says he would really like to spread his message of just how critical energy policy is to the nation and the world. Fossil fuels are often demonized, explains Curtis, and he’s trying to turn that message around to show that fossil fuels are actually part of the solution and conservatives need to have a seat at the decision making table. In the House, Curtis established the Conservative Climate Caucus which will continue. His efforts in the Senate will be to help more Republicans see that by turning their back on climate policy they are turning their back on energy policy. Curtis discusses this and other major issues and relevant topics in his interview which is shared on www.BasinNow.com. Just click on ‘Public Affairs’ under the Community tab.
