An individual who has made a significant impact on the Vernal community is transitioning to a new profession where his influence will surely continue, just in a new way. Joel Brown has been serving as the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director since 2015. He recently submitted his two week notice to the Chamber Board of Directors as he has accepted a position as the Marketing Specialist for Uintah Basin Medical Center. “I have absolutely loved the Chamber of Commerce,” shares Brown. “It has been a great blessing to have had the opportunity to work with our business community and local, state and federal leaders. It is a great organization that is the voice of business in the Basin.” Through his years, Joel has served on countless local committees, as well as many state boards and committees. He envisioned and organized the Rural Utah Chamber Coalition, a group made up of rural chamber leaders throughout Utah to act as a state and national lobbying organization. The goal of this coalition is to give rural Utah a better legislative voice. “Through his position as Executive Director of the Chamber, he has elevated the profile of our community locally and statewide,” shares former Chamber president Steve Evans. “While working under the Chamber president and board, his vision and organizational skills have helped the Chamber reach and surpass their goals.” Joel starts his new position on November 9th.
