It was a successful weekend for Uintah Athletics at Region and Divisional competitions. The Uintah Boys Swim Team became the Region 8 Champions with several school records set. Jaten Barraclough, Wyatt Kiever, Cullen Thomas and Jagger Morton won the 200 Medley Relay and broke their own school record with a time of 1:40.76. Jagger Morton won the 200 Individual Medley and broke his own school record with a time of 2:01.08. He also won the 100 Backstroke and set a new school record with a time of 53.91. The previous school record was set in 2019 by Cason Talbot with a time of 54.26. Jagger also has school records in the 100 Butterfly and 500 Freestyle bringing his school record count to 5. Uintah Swim Head Coach Jared Bigler said Region was a day full of memories. “Our team has worked hard all season for this,” shared Coach Bigler. “The meet was full of impressive personal records and teammates cheering each other on. When the boys were announced as region champs, they promptly pushed all three of us coaches into the pool.” It was also a successful weekend for the Uintah Boys Wrestling team as they dominated and won the 4A Divisional B meet. Payson won the 4A Divisional A meet so it looks like it will be another Uintah/Payson showdown at State on February 16th and 17th. The main difference this year is that they are vying for the 4A championship rather than the 5A.
