Uintah County is doing what they can to help their neighbors to the north as Dutch John is short on essential fire fighting equipment. Uintah County Fire Warden Jeremy Raymond presented an agreement to the Uintah County Commission on Monday to lease a Uintah County fire truck to Dutch John for $1 a year as they are currently without their own. The agreement is between the Uintah Fire District, Uintah County, and Dutch John and states that Dutch John is responsible for any insurance and maintenance of the truck and its equipment. The fire truck is to be kept in a heated building and anytime Uintah County has a need for the truck, they can request the vehicle back. Raymond explained that due to the emergency need, the truck was actually delivered last month and the volunteer firefighters in Dutch John have already been trained to use it. The fire truck is a 1984 model with a 1000 gallon water tank. It was being stored in Lapoint and was not being used. It is valued with equipment at approximately $20,000 to $30,000. Raymond emphasized that this is a temporary agreement and that they just want to help until Dutch John is able to provide better for their own needs. The Commission approved the agreement.
