With hunting season starting up, forest and wildlife officials are urging hunters to take fire safety seriously. A few safety tips to keep in mind are as follows: clear fire site down to bare soil. Make sure there is containment of the fire. Build fire away from overhanging trees and branches. Keep at least 5 to 10 gallons of water and a shovel nearby. Never leave fire unattended. When putting fire out, drown, stir, and drown again. Make sure fire area is cold to the touch.
