Four individuals are in custody after warrants were filed this week in connection with human remains found in Garfield County in 2023. On December 26th, law enforcement officers along with members of Garfield County Search and Rescue performed a grid search in an area near Fravert Reservoir. They were searching for the body of a missing person based on multiple tips they had received. The remains, later identified as those of 33-year-old Raul Perez, were discovered following a search of approximately two hours. The Garfield County Coroner was called to the scene to recover the body. Information obtained indicated that the body had been left there since mid-summer. The investigation continued as a homicide investigation. After weeks of investigation, warrants were filed for Angel Cosme-Marquez, Manuela Zapata-Castillo, Phillip Johnson, and Joseph Moffat on April 2nd. All four are now in custody.
