Utah’s Department of Public Safety is asking Utahns to consider the following questions: “Have you thought about what the immediate aftermath of a serious crash might be? Would you be conscious? Able to speak? Able to tell first responders what medications you’re taking, any special medical considerations and who to contact?” These questions led the state to create the Yellow Dot Program, a system designed to communicate critical information of crash victims to first responders. Participation takes only four simple steps. Print a photo of yourself that easily identifies you. Complete the Yellow Dot Information form that can be downloaded from the Utah DPS website. Include all medications and health conditions on the form. Place the Yellow Dot sticker on the front window of your car. Finally, keep the packet in the car’s glove box which is where the first responders are trained to look. To request materials, call 801-585-2991.
