The crowd witnessed a sad event during the Red Desert Roundup Rodeo in Rock Springs over the weekend. Sweetwater NOW reports that a horse suffered a heart attack during a steer wrestling event on Saturday. The rodeo committee announced on Tuesday that the horse had since passed away due to the effects of the cardiac event. The president of the rodeo committee shared that the horse’s medical emergency was a natural event and not related to an injury or the competition and that they regret that the incident was witnessed by families attending the rodeo. The rodeo president shared the following with SweetwaterNOW: “Our rodeo events are meant to celebrate the skill and spirit of both human and animal athletes, and it is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the sorrow this event has brought to our community.”
