While police do not specifically link the incidents together, Naples City Police Department issued a press release including details on two deaths discovered at two locations under investigation in Uintah County. The press release states that on December 31st, Vernal City Law Enforcement and the Vernal Fire Department were dispatched to the report of a residential fire in Vernal City. “Upon arrival, active fire activity was discovered inside the residence. During fire suppression efforts, a deceased adult male was located inside the residence. Investigation at the scene identified the male as 42-year-old Vernal resident Mark Ryan Bingham. While this investigation was being conducted, Naples City Law Enforcement and EMS were dispatched to a medical event at a residential care facility in Naples City. When law enforcement arrived, it was apparent the adult female was beyond life-saving efforts. Through the initial investigation, it was determined the patient was deceased as the result of a gunshot wound. The investigation identified the deceased as 72-year-old Patricia Bingham.” The incidents remain under investigation. Naples City Police Department stated that law enforcement is certain there is no active threat to the community.
