UBTech’s first ever online graduation ceremony was a great success. In a Monday press release, UBTech shared that the virtual commencement ceremony celebrated 485 students who earned a combined 539 technical certificates. “I had multiple people tell me it was wonderful to view graduation in the comfort of their home,” shares UBTech Student of the Year Laci Day. “I also had family members who live outside of the Uintah Basin be able to support us by tuning-in. It was a day of celebration and my classmates in the practical nursing program feel that we made the best of it!” Day was the student speaker at the virtual graduation. UBTech President Aaron Weight also spoke as part of the ceremony, and the graduates also heard from Governor Gary Herbert, UBTech Vice President of Economic Development Dr. Mark Dockings, and keynote speaker Gayle McKeachnie. Students graduated with certificates in nearly 30 different UBTech programs. The video of the commencement received over 2,000 views within the first 24 hours and is still available to view on the UBTech Facebook page and YouTube channel.
