Highway 40 Crash Victim Identified

Utah Highway Patrol has identified the Highway 40 crash victim that took place on Sunday morning. The UHP report of the accident states that a silver Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound on SR-40 near Mile Post 92 while a gray Ford F250 was traveling eastbound at the same location. Due to the rainy weather, the roads were wet and the Hyundai drifted into the eastbound lane. The Ford struck the Hyundai, causing it to split in half. Three of the Hyundai passengers were ejected while the driver of the Hyundai, identified as 27-year-old Alex Castro of Tooele, was pronounced dead at the scene. The three passengers who were ejected were transported to area hospitals. The driver of the Ford was also extricated, treated at an area hospital and later released.
