A high speed chase through the streets of Rock Springs ended abruptly with a crash this week. Sweetwater Now reports that on Tuesday an officer was attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a passenger car when it took off to elude the officer. The chase quickly involved high speeds and included the downtown area as well as residential streets. Officers from Wyoming Highway Patrol, Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, and Rock Springs Police Department coordinated to try to stop the vehicle and restore safety for the public. Unfortunately, nothing succeeded in stopping the runaway vehicle, that is until the car flew through a stop sign and crashed into a pickup truck. The driver was able to get out of the car and run and hide on the roof of a home near the Rock Springs Civic Center but was then apprehended. No name was shared in the report but it did note that the driver was found to only have a suspended license on their record.
