Officials have made it clear that there’s cause for extra concern this wildfire season. National Weather Service is doing their part to warn the public of the dangers with several new announcements over the weekend. “More Red Flag Warnings are in place with gusty winds and low relative humidity through the start of the week,” shares National Weather Service. “The western Uintah Basin’s [Red Flag Warning] is in effect into Monday night.” A Red Flag Warning means there is high fire danger due to low relative humidity and affected by gusty winds. Extra caution must be taken. Make sure any fires are legally made and then put completely out. Properly dispose of cigarettes. And always check and obey all fire restrictions. Forestry, Fire, and State Lands has emphasized that with the East Myton Complex fire last week, this year is an early start to the wildfire season and the last time fire season started this early in the Uintah Basin was 2012.
