The Duchesne-Roosevelt Ranger District is working hard to prepare trails for summer hikers and announced Thursday that the Grandview Trailhead will be closed until mid-June, depending on weather. Grandview Trailhead gives access to Grandaddy Lake in the High Uintas and is closed for the removal of dead beetle killed hazard trees in and around the trailhead. “The build-up of dead and dying trees around the Grandview Trailhead has increased the risk to visitors parking horse trailers and vehicles in the trailhead area while accessing the High Uinta Wilderness Area,” shares public affairs officer Louis Haynes. “The closure is needed due to the use of large equipment to remove the trees and the narrow one lane road with pullouts used to access the Grand View Trailhead and the falling of trees into the trailhead parking area. About 15 acres will be treated with cleanup lasting about 14 days.
