A better wayfinding system may be in the future for Uintah County thanks to an extensive collaborative and cooperative effort between multiple agencies. The Uintah County Commission pledged their general support during last week’s Commission meeting with a motion to commit up to $5,000 dollars to the cause as it gets underway. A wayfinding system which consists of more detailed signage was proposed by Roger Brooks last fall who provided an in depth community analysis of what improvements could boost the area’s tourism and economy. Funds committed to the project so far include a $25,000 dollar grant from the Office of Outdoor Recreation, a $25,000 dollar Active and Healthy Communities grant, and a proposed $22,000 dollars from local entities. That amount is made up of commitments including $5,000 dollars from Vernal City, $2,000 dollars from Naples City, $2,000 dollars from the Recreation District, $2,000 dollars from the Travel and Tourism Office, $500 dollars from the Vernal Chamber of Commerce, $500 dollars from Ballard City, $5,000 dollars from Uintah County, and a proposed $5,000 dollars from the Transportation District.
