A Duchesne County grandpa is facing child endangerment and drug charges for being high on Methamphetamine while watching his 1-year-old grandson. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the situation was discovered when probation officers located 65-year-old Jeffery Seymour Giles for a probation check at his home in Fruitland. Giles had previously told the court that he had to go to a hospice facility in the Salt Lake area due to his health but on February 20th, officers learned that he in fact had not reported to hospice but was instead at home. While on scene, officers witnessed the 1-year-old child moving around the trailer and playing very near where Methamphetamine was located. Officers noted that it would have been very easy for the child to reach and ingest it. Giles was placed under arrest and transported to the Duchesne County Jail. He is charged with 2nd Degree Felony Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Reckless Endangerment, and Use of Drug Paraphernalia.
