Families and individuals who were trapped due to the Rose Petroleum gas well malfunction in Grand County were able to exit the area on Monday. Authorities temporarily opened Ruby Ranch Road early in the afternoon to allow the campers and groups who had been recreating in the area to exit and travel home safely. By evening, it was deemed safe to reopen the road but it was noted that the road closure could be reinstated at any time if the repair efforts required it.
According to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, a call of an equipment malfunction on a natural gas well was received on Friday, April 7th at 11:44am. The nearby road was closed due to the potential for explosion. On Sunday, Rose Petroleum provided an update on the company’s plan to fix the problem. The company, Rose Petroleum, hoped to bring the well under control by late Monday.
