On Thursday, Governor Cox announced that given the rapid spread of Omicron and the widespread availability of vaccines for school-aged kids, all Test-to-Stay programs were put on hold. The Governor emphasized the importance of staying home if someone is sick or has a positive COVID test result. This message was aimed at all those in school and beyond. While there was some temporary confusion among local families considering the Governor’s announcement and the school district’s announcement, the plan for Uintah High School to return to its normal schedule this week has remained in place. “Classes will be held in-person on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday,” shares Uintah High. “Students have the option to attend classes in-person or online on Friday per the established Friday schedule. Should the Uintah School Board decide at any point that it is necessary to move classes online, parents/guardians will be notified.” Monday’s active COVID count for Uintah High School had lowered by one to 33. Vernal Middle School followed with 6 active cases, 5 at Davis Elementary, 3 at Uintah Middle School, 2 each at Eagle View, Lapoint, and Maeser Elementary, and 1 at Ashley Elementary.
