Give’m Health: Mental Wellness During The Holidays

TriCounty Health’s Give’m Health message this week focuses on an especially important topic: mental health. Jon Crane with Northeastern Counseling visited the KLCY studio to share that while the holidays are a fun and joyful time for many, it can also be a time of sadness and extreme stress. Finding happiness in the holidays is often a challenge when life has changed. “Reaching out is one of the hardest things we do, especially when it comes to mental health struggles, so it is also very important that we pay attention around us and notice the people that are struggling,” shared Crane, who emphasized that everyone needs to know that they are not alone and that there are resources available to get help. In the Uintah Basin there are almost 40 mental health therapists available. The SafeUT app is also a great way to get yourself some help or to help a friend. There are counselors available 24/7 and crisis referrals available on a regular basis. Calling or texting 9-8-8 is another effective option for help. A screening is performed and when needed a local mobile crisis team can meet you wherever you are, any time of day. For more information, call 435-789-6300 or 435-725-6300.
