TriCounty Health’s Give’m Health topic for this week is a timely reminder concerning vaccinations. While the recommendation for childhood vaccinations is well known and understood it is less well known that adults need vaccines too and can be at risk for vaccine preventable diseases. TriCounty Health shares that immunity of some vaccines can wear off as you get older and boosters vaccines are needed. Tdap or tetanus vaccines are recommended every 10 years or sooner if injury occurs. Shingles vaccine is available to those over the age of 50 and pneumonia vaccines are recommended for those 65 and older or for those with underlying health conditions. There are still flu vaccines available at TriCounty Health locations and while there they can check your vaccination record and see if there are others needed.
