While the roads haven’t posed too much of an issue yet, local officials are urging preparedness for the winter conditions that are sure to come. According to TriCounty Health Emergency Preparedness Director Rob Grove, it’s important to take caution traveling in severe weather and now is the time to prepare vehicles for winter driving conditions. Grove says it’s a good idea to have a new battery, check tires and brakes, make sure windshield wipers are good, and to keep extra wiper fluid in the vehicle in case it runs low or out. In addition to preparing your vehicle, be sure to stay aware of the weather by listening to forecasts, road reports and storm warnings. Be sure to tell someone where you are going and when you are expected to return. Stay in your vehicle if stuck or lost in a winter storm, and keep a winter car kit in your vehicle.
