TriCounty Health is interested in the overall well being of residents in the TriCounty Health District and are providing financial health tips for this week’s Give Em’ Health feature. TriCounty Health Director Jordan Mathis explains that financial health and well being are closely linked. Mathis says there are practices anyone can do regardless of income to reduce stress and improve health. First, look at financial health as a long term commitment and remain focused on the overall goals. Second, create a plan for financial health that includes a budget. Third, prioritize the needs from the wants and remain focused on the things that matter. Fourth, avoid consumer debt. Just like people are advised not to overeat, says Mathis, it’s important not to overspend. Fifth, start some form of a savings. Sixth, keep working your financial muscles. Once these steps are under control, it can be beneficial to visit a financial planner to create long term plans. For more information and tips, visit
