No one could have predicted the events of 2020 and even 2021 but thankfully the agency most in need of it had been training for mass vaccination distribution for years. TriCounty Health Department held their first Flu Shootout event in 2015 with the goal of not only offering the flu shot to the public but to also offer valuable training to the health department staff. According to a press release from the health department at the time, the event aimed to provide the staff “with a small scale exercise in the case of an event occurring which would necessitate the health department to provide prophylaxis or mass vaccination to the community.” The Shoot Out events continued annually meaning TriCounty Health Department had roughly 5 years of training going into the COVID-19 pandemic and eventual vaccine distribution. Starting today, TriCounty Health is offering the COVID-19 vaccine in the style of the Flu Shoot Out events. The drive through COVID Shoot Out starts today and welcomes anyone 18 and older at either the Roosevelt USU Campus or the Vernal TriCounty Health location. The COVID Shoot Out runs Monday through Friday 8am to 6pm.
