Local girls have enjoyed recent opportunities to engage with computer science. Uintah High School French teacher Cynthia White is the advisor for the Girls Who Code Club and has been a part of GenCyber camps for the past three years. White’s success in securing a grant through the National Security Agency and National Science Foundation resulted in Uintah High School being the first school in Utah to host GenCyber camp, an event that took place last week. Girls in 5th through 8th grades attended the camp at Uintah High School, learning to write code as well as about topics like cybersecurity and online safety. 29 girls attended the camp this year which was a huge success.
