It’s been an exciting week in downtown Roosevelt City with the ‘Fun on 40’ celebration. Part of the fun was welcoming people who may have traveled through Roosevelt many times but hadn’t stopped to enjoy the downtown atmosphere and businesses until now. Even more, the celebration was an opportunity for the great people and places in Roosevelt to shine, something that City Manager Ryan Snow says is natural as residents, business owners, and city officials alike are continually stepping up to beautify and invest in the City. Leading the way, Roosevelt City made the goal to improve and service basically all its roads in a 5 year period. Last year, the City chip sealed a third of its roads. This year another third have been improved and though they won’t quite make their goal within 5 years, Snow says that within a 6 year time period 95 percent of the roads will have been serviced and improved. The City has also gotten creative by repurposing rotomill material taken off roads and made it into a road base to develop the City’s alleyways. These efforts are having a ripple effect. “We find when we improve areas of town, growth happens afterwards,” shares Snow. “Once a road becomes paved we’ve seen surrounding business owners and residents then pave their driveway and improve their infrastructure. We believe in progress, not perfection and we are so happy to see continual progress. Everyone can take part and do their part to improve Roosevelt City. After all,” shares Snow, “it belongs to all of us.”
