After 3 straight runner-up finishes, Josh Frost finished on top Saturday night at the National Finals Rodeo and won his first PRCA Bull Riding World Championship. “It’s about taking it one bull at a time,” shared Frost. “I was trying to make the most out of each bull we had. A lot of work was put into the preparation and keeping my body healthy for this event. It paid off.” He finished the season with $476,877 and won the NFR Average at 580 points on seven bulls and was the only bull rider to stay on more than 5 bulls. Another Uintah Basin cowboy also came out on top on Saturday. Dean Thompson recorded an 88.5 point ride in Round 10 to be named the 2024 Bareback Riding World Champion. “Like I said all week, people say you’re in the hunt for the world title right now, and it kind of shocks me that they didn’t know I was already in the hunt from Round 1,” Thompson said. “But it’s a different thing when it all works out. You almost can’t even imagine it.” Thompson finished the season with $412,121, and this weekend added a PRCA World Championship and the NFR Average Championship to his trophy case. Finally, a third Uintah Basin cowboy had an excellent showing at the National Finals Rodeo. Altamont cowboy Cash Robb placed third in the race for a Steer Wrestling World Championship while being named the NFR Average Winner in Steer Wrestling. Congratulations to each of these amazing men and their families as they celebrate the years of hard work resulting in success. All are invited to welcome these Champions home on Tuesday, December 17th, at 6pm. Wear your boots and hats and line Highway 40 in Vernal from Lowes to Vernal Avenue in celebration of not one but two PRCA World Champions.
