Friends Against Family Violence Renovating Building To Be Permanent Home

A very important local program will finally have a permanent home. Friends Against Family Violence is a community based nonprofit domestic violence program that provides services, shelter, crisis intervention, and education in Uintah, Duchesne, and Daggett County. Established in 2019, the organization has helped countless people all while having its main offices move around quite a bit. Well those days will soon be over as Friends Against Family Violence, through mostly donations and grants, has purchased the old dialysis clinic on 500 South in the Vernal area. With BHI taking on and supporting this important project, construction is underway to convert the building into the FAFV permanent home. Executive Director Adam Gaus shares that they hope to have renovations done in the late spring and once it is ready, it will be a game changer for the community. The building will be renovated into two parts. One half will have offices, a conference room, and a child care area. The other side will be transformed into 3 transitional housing units which is a much needed service to be offered in the area. Finally, the building’s basement will be transformed into a place to store donations and where those needing clothing and supplies can come get what they need. Gaus says this new location also has property so there is room to grow in the future to meet the unique needs of the community. It is also near a Basin Transit bus stop which is very helpful.
