Friends Against Family Violence Launches ‘My Voice Has Power’ Campaign

by | Oct 2, 2020 | News | 0 comments

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month so it was fitting that Friends Against Family Violence chose October 1st to launch the local ‘My Voice Has Power’ campaign. Their message is clear, each voice can make a difference. The campaign is aimed at raising awareness about the ways that interpersonal violence affects our community and that using your voice has the power to create change. Friends Against Family Violence is offering to come to your organization, business, or team to teach a 45-minute workshop and at the end the group can sign a ‘My Voice’ pledge. The pledge states: “I will use my voice to intervene when I recognize that sexual assault and domestic violence may occur. I will use my voice to make a difference in my community.” The goal is to collect 1,000 signatures from community members across the Uintah Basin and the signatures are being used to form a chain which will be unveiled in April during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. To learn more and join this cause, visit www.fafv.org. All are also invited to participate in the Domestic Violence Awareness Walk this Saturday, October 3rd at 5pm at the Freestone Legacy Walking Park in Vernal. For those in need of crisis services through FAFV, please call the 24-hour hotline at 435-781-2264.
