Free Fishing Day is coming up in Utah and there are several local events to add to the fun. The Division of Wildlife Resources announced that Free Fishing Day will be held this year on Saturday, June 10th. On that day anyone can fish at any public waterbody in the state without a license. “Because you don’t need a license to fish that day, it’s the perfect time to take someone with you and introduce them to this fun sport,” shares DWR Sportfish Coordinator Randy Oplinger. “Early June is one of the best times to fish in Utah. All of the fish in the state, both warm water and coldwater species, are active and willing to bite this time of the year.” While you can fish at any public waterbody, there are some local events. A fishing derby is being held at Moose Pond on June 10th from 9am to noon. There will be education, treats, and prize drawings. Another fishing event on Free Fishing Day will be held at Lower Stillwater Ponds in Rock Creek Canyon from 9am to noon.
