Back in 2021, then Vernal Chamber Director Joel Brown was on a legislative trip at the Utah Capital when an idea was born out of a conversation. The questions explored were, What more could be done to advocate for rural Utah and why doesn’t rural Utah have any representation on a Chamber level? Brown started putting a list together of Chambers that may want to join together and the ‘Rural Utah Chamber Coalition’ was the end result.
Since then, the Coalition has lived up to its vision and more, as a unified group striving to see addressed State and Federal issues affecting rural Utah citizens and businesses. During the annual RUCC conference held last week, the Coalition presented Joel Brown with the much deserved ‘Rural Visionary Award’ for his role in the founding of RUCC. His time in leadership with the Vernal Chamber has since come to an end and he now serves as Senator Mike Lee’s Area Director for Northern Utah. Brown was thrilled to attend the conference and accept the award.
