If you’re looking for an activity to kick off the holiday season, the Forest Service is ready
to deliver. Christmas Tree Permits will go on sale for the Ashley National Forest and the
Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest on Wednesday, November 9th. Your tree must be
cut within the boundaries of the Forest so be sure to consult the Forest Motor Vehicle Use
Maps, available free of charge at Forest and District offices, for roads and trails open to
motorized vehicles. The tree’s maximum height is 15 feet and it must be cut below the
lowest live limb, leaving only 6 inches of stump above the ground surface. And last but
not least, if you have a fourth grader in your home, your family can receive a free
Christmas Tree cutting permit. Fourth graders can pick up their permits from one of the
Forest Service offices beginning November 9th. Visit www.Recreation.gov for more
information.
