The Flaming Gorge Fire Hole Canyon Swim Beach is under advisory by the Wyoming Department of Health and Department of Environmental Quality after harmful cyanobacterial blooms were identified in the waterbody. Satellite imagery from the Cyanobacteria Assessment Network identified the potential bloom last week and the Department of Environmental Quality collected samples on September 12th. The samples showed that the cyanobacteria densities exceed the allowable threshold. The Wyoming Department of Health and Department of Environmental Quality advise the public to avoid health risks: Do not swim in or come into contact with green water or floating clumps. Do not ingest water from the bloom. Rinse fish with clean water and eat only the fillet portion. Avoid water spray from the bloom. Do not allow pets or livestock to drink water near the bloom, eat bloom material, or lick fur after contact. If you or your pet get sick after contact with the water, contact your doctor or veterinarian.
