Thanks to the help of many, including the young men of the Ute football team, the Freestone Legacy Walking Park in Vernal has been transformed into a patriotic field of flags. The Flags for Freedom display is a kick off to the Dinosaurland Freedom Fest with most events taking place all day in Vernal on the Fourth of July. Events include the Flags for Freedom, Firecracker 5K, parade with the F-35 Lightning Jets fly over, music and entertainment all afternoon at the park, volleyball tournament, a revamped edition of the Freedom Fireworks, and more. Organizers want the entire community to feel comfortable participating in some way with the event. Those that are sick, have a high temperature, or a cough are asked to stay home but they can participate along with others that choose to stay home in the following ways: watch the parade and live entertainment from home through a live stream on the Dinosaurland Freedom Fest Facebook page and enjoy fireworks from your view at home. For those that choose to attend in person, there will be safety practices in place at the park. These include encouraging social distancing of 6 feet and the use of masks if needed or wanted, cleaner available in the pavilions for people to sanitize the picnic areas, games cleaned between each check out, handwashing stations, and hand sanitizer located at each vendor and bounce houses with the bounce houses sanitized each hour. Visit the Dinosaurland Freedom Fest Facebook page for more details.
