It has been a totally different kind of summer for everyone with more local recreation happening and less long distance travelling. That has certainly shown in the numbers of those that have taken part in the Fishing with the Fox tagged fish event. Now before you get discouraged, don’t! There is still plenty of fish to be caught. Of the 600 green tagged fish, 207 have been caught and registered. That’s close to a 35% percent return on tags and according to Tonya Kieffer-Selby, Conservation Outreach Manager for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, this is the most the event has ever had. Another exciting fact is that 174 individuals have never participated in this event meaning only 33 people have participated in Fishing with the Fox in the past. For those still fishing, here is the breakdown: from Moon Lake 101 of 275 fish have been registered, from Matt Warner Reservoir 89 of 275 fish are registered and from Moose Pond 17 of 50 have been registered. So far, 187 people plan to attend the party on August 6th. DWR reminds participants that once a fish is caught individuals need to first go online to register the tag and get a registration ticket. Then they must drop off both the tags and registration ticket to either UDWR or Stewarts BEFORE August 2nd to be eligible for the prize drawings.
