It is Fire Prevention Week 2020, a time to bring awareness to the simple precautions all can take to help prevent fire-related injury and death. Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond says that this is an important time every year to assess our homes to improve fire safety. The Theme for this year is Serve Up Fire Safety In The Kitchen. “The number one place for fires to start in the home is the kitchen,” explains Raymond, who wants to remind everyone to be careful. As far as wildfires and home fires Raymond says that Uintah County residents have done a tremendous job with safety and there have been very few fires this year. Fire restrictions remain in place on Forest, BLM, and State lands as well as unincorporated parts of the county. It is still very hot and dry outside so when going hunting be sure to check fire restrictions in the area. Fire Prevention Week is being honored across the country as a reminder for all to follow safe practices, starting with checking smoke detectors in the home.
