After nearly 6 weeks, the Speirs Fire in Daggett County is now categorized as 100 percent contained. The Forest Service made the announcement on Thursday, stating that fire activity remains minimal, with little evidence of heat or smoke within the fire perimeter. “Firefighters will continue to monitor and patrol the fire area,” shares the announcement. “Crews have finished development of the contingency line and are focusing on rehabilitation efforts. Heavy equipment will continue to be working in the area, completing restoration of areas disturbed during construction. It is anticipated this activity will last through the end of August for completion. The Greens Draw Road will remain closed for public use during this time.” For more information and to view the existing closures, please visit the Ashley National Forest website.
