Officers arrested a man in Uintah County last week who had missed court and had a warrant issued for his arrest. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers approached 45-year-old Brian Kay Carroll as he was walking on the side of the road and informed him that he had active warrants for his arrest. As the officer exited his patrol vehicle, Carroll was moving around in a manner that suggested he was digging in his pockets and appeared to throw something. Carroll refused to comply with instructions, stating that he did not have any warrants. Officers detained him and contacted Dispatch who confirmed that Brian Kay Carroll had two active statewide warrants. Officers began searching Carroll as part of the arrest and located a clear baggie containing 10 grams of methamphetamine and a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue inside. Officers searched the area for anything that may have been thrown and located two receipts next to a clear plastic vial with 3 blue fentanyl pills inside. The receipt was from AT&T and had the name Brian C on it as the customer. Reviewing video footage from the patrol vehicle, officers were able to confirm that those items had not been there when the vehicle pulled up and stopped. Brian Kay Carroll is charged with 2 counts of 3rd Degree Felony Possession of Use of a Controlled Substance, as well as 3rd Degree Felony Tampering with Evidence.
